A delightful dessert that transforms leftover bread into a warm, comforting dish, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 8 cups day-old bread, cubed
  • 1/2 cup raisins or chocolate chips (optional)
  • Butter for greasing the dish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
  3. Add the cubed bread to the mixture and stir until the bread is soaked. If desired, fold in raisins or chocolate chips.
  4. Pour the bread mixture into the greased baking dish.
  5. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the pudding is set and the top is golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with ice cream or caramel sauce. Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
