Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 lb bone-in spiral cut ham
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup orange juice, fresh squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • Cooking spray
  • Fresh herbs and fruit for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and coat a large baking pan with cooking spray.
  2. Create the glaze by melting butter, then adding brown sugar, orange juice, orange zest, cinnamon, and nutmeg; heat until syrupy.
  3. Put the ham in the prepared pan and pour half of the glaze over it; cover with foil.
  4. Bake for 2 hours.
  5. Uncover and brush the remaining glaze over the ham, softening it in the microwave if hardened.
  6. Raise the oven temperature to 400°F and bake uncovered for another 15-20 minutes.
  7. Move the ham to a serving platter, garnish, and drizzle with pan drippings.
  8. Slice and serve with your favorite sides.

Notes

Let the ham rest for at least 15 minutes after baking for better juicy distribution. Experiment with flavor variations such as pineapple juice or adding Dijon mustard.
