Ingredients

  • Brisket (5-7 pounds)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Black pepper (to taste)
  • Garlic powder (2 teaspoons)
  • Onion powder (2 teaspoons)
  • Paprika (1 tablespoon)
  • Beef broth (1 cup)
  • Barbecue sauce (optional)
  • Onions (sliced, optional)
  • Carrots (sliced, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Rub the brisket generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  3. Place the seasoned brisket in a roasting pan and pour beef broth around it.
  4. Optionally, layer sliced onions and carrots on top of the brisket.
  5. Cover the pan tightly with foil and bake for about 4-5 hours.
  6. Remove the foil and apply barbecue sauce if desired, then bake for an additional 30 minutes.
  7. Let the brisket rest for 20 minutes before slicing against the grain.

Notes

Slice against the grain for maximum tenderness. Letting the brisket rest is essential for juicy slices.
