These delightful biscuits combine the richness of butter and the tang of sourdough for a flaky, buttery treat perfect for any meal.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 cup sourdough starter (active or discard)
  • 1/4 cup milk (or buttermilk)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add the sourdough starter and milk to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Knead the dough a few times on a floured surface until it comes together.
  6. Roll or pat the dough to about 1-inch thickness and cut out biscuits using a round cutter.
  7. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  9. Serve warm with butter or your choice of toppings.
