Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (for whipping cream)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for whipping cream)
  • Fresh fruit (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, stirring in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk, until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow it to cool completely.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and heavy cream.
  7. Poke holes all over the cooled cake with a fork, and pour the milk mixture over the cake. Allow it to soak for at least an hour or overnight in the refrigerator.
  8. For the topping, whip the heavy cream with sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  9. Spread the whipped cream over the cake and garnish with fresh fruit if desired.

Notes

For a citrus twist, add zest from a lime or orange to the milk mixture. You can also mix in chocolate or coffee flavors to the batter.
