Delightful cookies combining rich chocolate, sweet cherries, and melty chocolate chips.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup dried cherries or cherry preserves

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Mix together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients into the wet mixture gently.
  6. Add in the chocolate chips and dried cherries (or cherry preserves).
  7. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are firm.
  9. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Store leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. For longer freshness, freeze them layered with parchment paper.
