Ingredients

  • 4 slices of thick bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 4 strips of bacon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Butter for frying

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, then crumble and set aside.
  2. Prepare the egg mixture by whisking eggs, milk, bourbon, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth.
  3. Soak each slice of bread in the egg mixture for a few seconds on each side.
  4. Heat a skillet with leftover bacon drippings and butter over medium heat.
  5. Cook the soaked bread slices for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Serve warm, topped with crumbled bacon and a drizzle of maple syrup.

Notes

Best when served fresh, but leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
