A comforting dish of scalloped potatoes layered with savory ham and gooey cheese, perfect for family gatherings.

  • 2 pounds potatoes, sliced
  • 2 cups cooked ham, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Take half of your sliced potatoes and arrange them in a greased baking dish.
  3. Add half of the diced ham, followed by half of the chopped onion and cheese over the potatoes.
  4. Sprinkle the first layer with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  5. Repeat the layering process with the remaining ingredients.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream and milk.
  7. Pour the cream and milk blend evenly over the layered ingredients.
  8. Dot the top of your dish with small pieces of butter.
  9. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour.
  10. After an hour, carefully remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes.
  11. Let the dish cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Choose your cheese wisely; cheddar is classic, but Gruyère adds a wonderful nutty flavor.
