A classic Chicken Cordon Bleu recipe featuring tender chicken breasts wrapped around savory ham and gooey Swiss cheese, all coated in a crispy breadcrumb layer.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Flatten the chicken breasts to about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Place a slice of ham and cheese on each chicken breast.
  4. Roll up the chicken breasts tightly and secure them with toothpicks if necessary.
  5. Set up a breading station with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.
  6. Dredge each chicken roll in flour, dip in eggs, and coat with breadcrumbs.
  7. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry each roll until golden brown on all sides.
  8. Transfer the fried rolls to a baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes.
  9. Remove toothpicks before serving.

Notes

For added crunch, mix in some Parmesan cheese with your breadcrumbs. Experiment with different cheeses for unique flavors.
