Delicious chicken gyros filled with marinated chicken, fresh veggies, and tangy feta tzatziki.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken breast, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1 cup sliced cucumbers
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, combine the olive oil, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss in the chicken slices and mix well to ensure they’re fully coated. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Sauté the Chicken: Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken, cooking until it’s browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes.
  3. Create the Feta Tzatziki Sauce: In a separate bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, crumbled feta cheese, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  4. Warm the Pita Breads: Warm the pita breads in a dry pan or microwave until they’re soft and pliable.
  5. Assemble Your Gyros: Lay the warm pita flat, add a portion of chicken, top with tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, and tzatziki.
  6. Wrap and Enjoy: Gently wrap your gyro and take a big bite. Enjoy!

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Marinating the chicken longer enhances flavor. Consider using whole wheat pita for a healthier option.
