Delightful Chocolate Chip Vanilla Custard Brioches, perfect for breakfast or brunch, infused with chocolate and creamy custard.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup vanilla custard

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing warm milk with active dry yeast and a pinch of sugar. Let sit until foamy.
  2. Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl: flour, sugar, and salt. Create a well in the center.
  3. Meet the wet ingredients by whisking together melted butter, eggs, and vanilla. Pour into the well followed by the yeast mixture.
  4. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  5. Knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. First rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  7. Prepare for filling by punching down the dough and rolling it into a rectangle.
  8. Add vanilla custard and chocolate chips over the dough.
  9. Roll the dough into a log and cut into 12 pieces.
  10. Second rise: Let the pieces rise again for about 30 minutes.
  11. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar or drizzling with chocolate.
