A rich and airy chocolate mousse cake filling that elevates any dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Begin by melting the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl or using a double boiler until smooth. Allow the melted chocolate to cool slightly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  3. In another bowl, beat the egg whites until frothy. Gradually add in the granulated sugar and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold the melted chocolate into the whipped cream.
  5. Fold in the beaten egg whites gently, working in batches.
  6. Use the chocolate mousse immediately as a filling or frosting, or spoon it into cups for individual desserts.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir gently before serving.
