  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • Chocolate glaze (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan.
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then add vanilla, orange zest, and orange juice.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the creamed mixture, alternating with buttermilk. Mix gently.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Drizzle warm chocolate glaze over the cooled cake before serving.
