Delightful and fluffy cinnamon rolls that evoke warm memories and indulgent experiences. Perfect for breakfast or as a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup icing sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
  • Water (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk until just warm to the touch. Stir in the yeast and let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, granulated sugar, eggs, and the yeast mixture. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing with a wooden spoon or your hands until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  6. Punch down the dough, roll into a large rectangle about 1/4-inch thick.
  7. Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar.
  8. Roll the dough tightly into a log shape and cut into 12 equal rolls.
  9. Arrange in a greased baking pan and cover with a towel. Let rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. While cooling, whisk icing sugar, vanilla extract, and a little water for glaze and drizzle over rolls.

Notes

For added flavor, try adding nuts or swapping the glaze for cream cheese.
