A beloved tradition, these Cinnamon Scalloped Sweet Potatoes combine tender sweet potatoes with fragrant cinnamon and nutmeg for a comforting side dish that’s perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 4 large Sweet potatoes
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup Butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • Optional: Marshmallows or pecans for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into thin rounds.
  3. Mix together melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg in a large bowl.
  4. Layer the sweet potato slices in a greased baking dish and pour the butter mixture over each layer.
  5. Pour the heavy cream over the top of the sweet potatoes.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  8. Optionally, sprinkle marshmallows or pecans on top in the last few minutes of baking.
  9. Serve warm as a delicious side dish.

Notes

For a less sweet option, reduce the amount of brown sugar or omit the marshmallows.
