A refreshing and creamy cinnamon-infused beverage that’s perfect for warm afternoons and festive occasions.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk (or almond milk for a dairy-free option)
  • Sugar to taste
  • Ground cinnamon for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Combine the rinsed rice, 2 cups of water, and the cinnamon stick in a blender.
  3. Let your mixture sit for about 3 hours.
  4. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract, milk (or almond milk), and sugar to taste.
  6. Chill the horchata in the refrigerator for a couple of hours before serving.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, soak the rice overnight. Leftover horchata can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-5 days.
