Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
  6. Scoop large balls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the centers are still soft.
  8. Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, use softened butter, and consider adding a pinch of sea salt on top before baking for extra flavor.
