A warm and hearty breakfast casserole featuring layers of bread, savory sausage, and rich egg mixture.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of bread, preferably a day or two old
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 12 eggs
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a large baking dish.
  3. Sauté the breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned.
  4. Whisk together the eggs, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Layer the bread, cooked sausage, and cheese in the greased baking dish.
  6. Pour the egg mixture over the layers.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the casserole is set and golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Using day-old bread helps absorb the egg mixture better without getting too soggy. Feel free to customize with different cheeses or veggies.
