A comforting dish featuring crispy steak fingers topped with a rich, creamy gravy, perfect for family dinners or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound beef steak (e.g., sirloin or round)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for gravy)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Steak: Cut the steak into strips, about 1 inch wide.
  2. Marinate in Buttermilk: Place the steak fingers in a bowl and pour the buttermilk over them. Allow them to marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Season the Flour: In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  4. Heat the Oil: In a frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat, about half an inch deep.
  5. Dredge the Steak: Take each marinated steak strip and dredge it in the seasoned flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  6. Fry the Steak Fingers: Carefully place the coated steak fingers in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. Drain the Fried Steak Fingers: Remove the steak fingers from the oil and let them drain on paper towels.
  8. Make the Gravy: In the same pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the additional flour for about 1 minute.
  9. Add the Beef Broth: Gradually add the beef broth while whisking continuously until thickened.
  10. Season the Gravy: Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
  11. Serve: Place the crispy steak fingers on a plate and drizzle the gravy over them.

Notes

Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying for crispiness. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
