A delightful twist on a classic French pastry, this Croissant Bread captures the flaky, buttery layers of croissants in a soft loaf that’s perfect for any time of day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine the warm milk and yeast in a mixing bowl. Let it sit until frothy, about 5 to 10 minutes.
  2. Mix the flour, sugar, and salt in another bowl.
  3. Add the melted butter, egg, and vanilla to the frothy yeast mixture, whisking to combine.
  4. Gradually combine the wet ingredients with the dry mixture, stirring until just incorporated.
  5. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 6–8 minutes until smooth.
  6. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour.
  7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface, fold it like a letter, wrap it in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  8. Shape the croissants by rolling out the dough again and cutting it into triangles.
  9. Place the shaped croissants on a baking sheet and let them rise until puffed up, about 30 minutes.
  10. Bake the croissant bread in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Notes
