A decadent chocolate cake layered with cream filling and chocolate ganache, perfect for celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  4. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mix.
  5. Stir in the boiling water to create a smooth batter.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pans.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks.
  9. Whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form, then fold in the cream cheese.
  10. Assemble the cake layers, spreading cream filling between them.
  11. Melt the chocolate chips to prepare the ganache.
  12. Drizzle the ganache over the assembled cake.
  13. Chill before serving to set the ganache and filling.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or coffee. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
