Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (or substitute with ground turkey or chicken)
  • 2 cups frozen hash browns (or fresh hash browns)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Monterey Jack)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Brown the meat in a large skillet over medium heat until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Mix together the browned meat, cream of mushroom soup, and milk in a bowl until smooth.
  3. Lay half of the frozen hash browns in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish to form a base.
  4. Assemble the layers by pouring the meat mixture over the hash browns, then add the remaining hash browns on top.
  5. Cheese it up by sprinkling shredded cheese generously over the casserole.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 30 minutes, covering with foil. Remove foil in the last 10 minutes to brown the cheese.
  7. Cool for 5-10 minutes before serving to allow it to set.
