A delightful and simple Dutch apple pie featuring a flaky crust, tender apples, and a crunchy topping.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups sliced apples
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch.
  3. Place the apple mixture into your pie crust.
  4. In another bowl, mix together flour, oats, brown sugar, softened butter, nutmeg, and salt to create the topping.
  5. Sprinkle the crisp topping generously over the apples.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes until the apples are soft and the topping is golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Leftovers can be stored for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
