A delightful and simple focaccia bread, bursting with the flavors of garlic and Parmesan cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary (optional)
  • Coarse sea salt

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Combine mixtures for dough: Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth.
  5. First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour.
  6. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  7. Shape the dough: After rising, punch down the dough and spread it onto a greased baking sheet.
  8. Create dimples all over the surface of the dough.
  9. Add flavorful toppings: Brush with olive oil, sprinkle minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, rosemary, and coarse sea salt.
  10. Bake to perfection for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Cool and serve slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

For added flavors, experiment with different herbs like thyme or oregano. Leftover focaccia can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
