A classic Italian apple cake filled with tender apples and warm spices, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 3 medium apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.
  2. Mix together the melted butter and sugar until combined.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and mix well until smooth.
  4. Combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped apples gently.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

To prevent apples from sinking, coat them lightly in flour before folding. Use different apple varieties for varying flavors.
