A delightful dessert that combines the zesty kick of lemon with creamy filling, wrapped in golden puff pastry.

Ingredients

  • 1 package puff pastry
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut diagonal slits on both sides.
  3. Mix the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest until smooth.
  4. Spread the cream cheese mixture down the center of the pastry.
  5. Fold the slits over the filling, alternating from one side to the other.
  6. Whisk together the egg and milk, and brush this mixture over the braid.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

This puff pastry braid can be served on its own or with a dusting of powdered sugar and fresh berries.
