Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup eggnog
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup eggnog (for frosting)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough Base: In a bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, yeast, salt, and cinnamon until well combined.
  2. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, combine the eggnog, melted butter, and egg. Whisk until fully blended.
  3. Make a Dough: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and mix until a dough begins to form.
  4. Knead the Dough: Knead the dough on a floured surface until it’s smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Then, place it in a lightly greased bowl and cover it to let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Roll Out the Dough: After rising, roll out the dough into a large rectangle on a floured surface. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough.
  6. Sprinkle the Cinnamon Sugar Mixture: In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle this sweet mixture evenly over the buttered dough.
  7. Form the Rolls: Start rolling the dough tightly from one end to the other, forming a log. Cut the roll into 1-inch pieces to create individual rolls.
  8. Second Rise: Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover them, and let them rise again for 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare for the amazing smells to come.
  10. Bake the Rolls: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
  11. Prepare the Frosting: While the rolls bake, beat the cream cheese, eggnog, and powdered sugar together in a bowl until smooth and creamy.
  12. Drizzle and Serve: Once the rolls are out of the oven, drizzle the warm cream cheese frosting over them. They are ready to be served fresh and warm!

Notes

These rolls can be refrigerated overnight before baking and still taste delicious the next day.
