A rich and aromatic pizza sauce made from scratch that elevates any pizza night.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp salt (or to taste)
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • ¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp balsamic vinegar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Sauté the garlic in olive oil over medium heat for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  2. Combine the tomato sauce and tomato paste to create a rich base.
  3. Add the oregano, basil, onion powder, salt, sugar, crushed red pepper flakes, and black pepper. Stir well.
  4. Simmer the sauce on low heat for 15-20 minutes to develop flavors.
  5. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed.
  6. Cool the sauce before storing in an airtight container.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for best flavor. This sauce can also be used for pasta.
