A delightful Greek Honey Pie made with layers of phyllo dough, walnuts, and a luscious honey syrup, celebrating tradition and flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1 cup phyllo dough (about 10 sheets)
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan, combine honey, sugar, water, cinnamon, and vanilla. Bring to a boil, then simmer for about 10 minutes.
  3. Brush a baking dish with melted butter.
  4. Layer 5 sheets of phyllo dough in the dish, brushing each with melted butter.
  5. Sprinkle half of the chopped walnuts evenly over the layered phyllo.
  6. Layer another 5 phyllo sheets on top, buttering each one generously.
  7. Top with the remaining walnuts.
  8. Cover with the remaining phyllo sheets, brushing each with butter. Cut the pie into squares.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Once out of the oven, immediately pour the honey syrup over the hot pie.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature, preferably with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Store leftovers at room temperature for up to 5 days.
