A delightful grilled teriyaki chicken that transforms simple gatherings into culinary celebrations with its sweet and savory flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix the Marinade: In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Whisk until the mixture is smooth.
  2. Marinate the Chicken: Place chicken in a container and pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring it’s well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (1-2 hours recommended for deeper flavor).
  3. Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill over medium-high heat and brush the grates with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  4. Prepare the Chicken: Remove chicken from the marinade and allow excess liquid to drip off. Discard the marinade, as it’s not safe to reuse.
  5. Grill the Chicken: Grill chicken for 6-7 minutes per side or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). During the last minute of cooking, brush with additional marinade for extra flavor.
  6. Let It Rest: Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes. This helps in keeping it juicy.
  7. Serve: Slice or serve the chicken whole. Optional: Sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

For best flavor, marinate the chicken for a few hours or overnight. Allow chicken to rest after grilling for juicier meat.
