Delightful ham and cheese puff pastry swirls, perfect for appetizers or snacks, combining flaky pastry with savory fillings.

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 4 slices ham
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle.
  3. Spread the Dijon mustard evenly over the pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Arrange the ham slices over the mustard.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded cheese and black pepper on top of the ham.
  6. Roll the pastry into a tight log and pinch the seam to seal.
  7. Slice the log into 12 slices about 1 cm (1/2 inch) thick and place them cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Brush the tops of the swirls with the egg wash made from whisking egg and milk together.
  9. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until golden and puffed.
  10. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure the puff pastry is cold before use. Experiment with different cheeses or vegetables for added flavor.
