A creamy homemade Alfredo sauce that transforms your pasta dish into a restaurant-quality meal, perfect for cozy dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pasta of choice (for serving)
  • Cooked chicken or shrimp (optional)

Instructions

  1. Boil the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente and reserve a cup of pasta water before draining.
  2. Melt the Butter: In a separate saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the Garlic: Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about a minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the Cream: Gently pour the heavy cream into the saucepan and reduce heat to low, stirring occasionally.
  5. Mix in the Parmesan: Gradually whisk in the freshly grated Parmesan cheese until melted and fully integrated.
  6. Season to Taste: Taste the sauce and season with salt and pepper as preferred.
  7. Combine with Pasta: Add the drained pasta directly into the sauce, tossing to coat, and adjust consistency with reserved pasta water if needed.
  8. Final Touches & Serve: If using, toss in cooked chicken or shrimp and serve immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan and cracked black pepper.

Notes

Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best flavor. Pair with a side salad or garlic bread.
