Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Optional toppings: powdered sugar, cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Combine the sugar, water, and salt in a medium saucepan and cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Add the pecans and vanilla extract to the pot and gently stir to coat every pecan.
  3. Continue cooking for about 10-15 minutes, stirring frequently until the mixture thickens and coats the nuts.
  4. Carefully pour the pecans onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and spread them in a single layer.
  5. Allow the candied pecans to cool completely before serving.

Notes

For deeper flavor, consider toasting the pecans beforehand. Can substitute different nuts or add flavor variations like bourbon.
