Deliciously soft and sweet honey buns that fill your home with warmth and nostalgia.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add sugar, melted butter, salt, egg, honey, and vanilla extract to the yeast mixture. Mix well until combined.
  3. Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) as the dough rises.
  6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into buns. Place them on a greased baking tray.
  7. Allow the buns to rise again for about 30 minutes until they are fluffy.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Enjoy warm or at room temperature with coffee or tea.

Notes

For added flavor, brush the buns with melted butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar before baking.
