Soft, fluffy homemade hot dog buns bursting with freshly baked flavor, perfect for summer gatherings and barbecues.

Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 large egg
  • Sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add melted butter and egg to the yeast mixture, mixing well.
  3. Knead in the flour and salt until a soft dough forms.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the dough, divide into equal portions, and shape into buns.
  6. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds if desired.
  9. Bake the buns for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Let cool before enjoying.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month. Reheat at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through.
