Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a bowl, combine warm milk and sugar, then sprinkle the yeast on top. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Prepare the dry ingredients: In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Make a well in the center, then add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg.
  3. Create the dough: Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour.
  5. Shape the buns: Punch down the dough, then divide it into equal portions and shape them into buns.
  6. Second rise: Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover, and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Bake the buns: Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
