A comforting classic of homemade spaghetti and meatballs that evokes warm family memories and brings the heart of Italian cuisine into your home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • 1 pound ground beef or a mix of beef and pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente.
  2. Make the meatball mixture by combining the ground beef or pork blend, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, minced garlic, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
  3. Shape the mixture into rounds, about the size of a golf ball.
  4. Brown the meatballs in a skillet with heated olive oil over medium heat, cooking them in batches.
  5. Prepare the sauce by adding crushed tomatoes and dried oregano to the skillet and seasoning with salt and pepper, then bring to a simmer.
  6. Simmer the meatballs in the sauce for 20-25 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.
  7. Serve the meatballs and sauce over the cooked spaghetti and top with extra Parmesan and parsley.

Notes

Use a mix of beef and pork for juicier meatballs. Browning the meatballs adds depth to flavor. Feel free to add spices for a kick!
