Experience the authentic flavors of Japan with these succulent grilled chicken thighs marinated in a savory blend of soy sauce, mirin, and ginger.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 2 tablespoons sake
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Create the Marinade: In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, ginger, and garlic to create the marinade.
  2. Marinate the Chicken: Add the chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for best results.
  3. Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Grill the Chicken Thighs: Grill the marinated chicken thighs for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and nicely caramelized.
  5. Rest the Chicken: Remove from the grill and let rest for a few minutes.
  6. Slice and Garnish: Slice the chicken and serve garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

For deeper flavors, let the chicken marinate overnight. If you don’t have mirin, substitute with a mixture of sake and sugar.
