Fluffy bao buns filled with juicy Korean marinated chicken, vibrant veggies, and a spicy-sweet kick.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups bao buns
  • 1 lb chicken breast, sliced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 cup cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken: In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, gochujang, honey, and sesame oil. Add the sliced chicken breast and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Cook the chicken: After marinating, heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook until it’s fully cooked through and starting to caramelize, about 10-12 minutes.
  3. Steam the bao buns: While the chicken is cooking, prepare the bao buns according to the package instructions.
  4. Assemble the bao buns: Once the bao buns are steamed to perfection, take a warm bao bun, fill it with the beautifully cooked chicken, and top with shredded carrots, thinly sliced cucumber, and chopped green onions.
  5. Garnish and serve: Finish off with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and serve immediately.

Notes

Feel free to switch up the toppings with avocado, bell peppers, or pickled radishes. For a vegetarian option, swap chicken for tofu or tempeh, and for gluten-free, use tamari.
