Indulge in these rich, moist, and chocolatey low calorie brownies made with black beans for a guilt-free treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a blender or food processor, combine black beans, cocoa powder, honey or maple syrup, applesauce, vanilla extract, baking powder, and salt. Blend until smooth.
  3. Stir in dark chocolate chips if desired.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased 8×8 inch baking pan and spread evenly.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Cool before cutting into squares and enjoy!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week. Can be frozen for up to 3 months.
