Delightful handheld morsels inspired by traditional shepherd’s pie, perfect for gatherings and cozy dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1 cup peas
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 package of pastry cups
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Brown the meat in a skillet over medium heat until browned.
  3. Sauté the onion and garlic until soft and translucent.
  4. Combine the peas, carrots, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper; cook until vegetables are tender.
  5. Fill each pastry cup with the meat and vegetable mixture.
  6. Top with a swirl of mashed potatoes.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes until pastry is golden brown.
  8. Garnish with cheddar cheese and return to oven for 5 minutes.
  9. Serve warm.

Notes

These bites can be frozen and reheated. Experiment with different fillings and toppings!
