Delicious homemade mozzarella sticks that are crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside, perfect for snacking or as an appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat a pot or deep fryer with oil to 350°F.
  2. Cut the mozzarella cheese into sticks, about 1/2 inch thick and 3 inches long.
  3. In a shallow dish, combine the breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Place the flour in another shallow dish.
  5. Whisk the eggs until they’re uniform in another dish.
  6. Dredge each mozzarella stick in the flour, then dip it in the eggs, and finally coat it with the breadcrumb mixture.
  7. Freeze the coated mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet for about 30 minutes.
  8. Heat the oil to 350°F for frying.
  9. Fry the mozzarella sticks in batches for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  10. Remove the mozzarella sticks with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  11. Serve hot with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Make sure your cheese sticks are fully frozen before frying to prevent them from leaking. Don’t overcrowd the pot while frying for an even cook.
