A comforting and warmly spiced mulled cider, perfect for gatherings and cozy evenings.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole nutmeg
  • 10 allspice berries
  • 10 cloves
  • 2 star anise
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 gallon apple cider
  • 1/4 cup rum (optional)
  • 1 small orange (for garnish)
  • Whole cranberries (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Toast the spices in a pot over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  2. Add the apple cider to the pot and heat it just below a simmer for about 60 minutes.
  3. Transfer to a slow cooker or Instant Pot and cook on low for an additional 180 minutes, if desired.
  4. Stir in the optional rum just before serving.
  5. Ladle your warm mulled cider into mugs and garnish with fresh orange slices and whole cranberries.

Notes

Toast the spices to enhance their flavors. Feel free to customize with different juices or spices based on your preference.
