A warm, sweet and savory noodle casserole that embodies comfort food and tradition.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz wide egg noodles
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1½ cups cottage cheese
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • ½ cup butter (melted)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 3 cups cornflakes (lightly crushed)
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and greasing a 9×13 baking dish with nonstick spray ensures our kugel won’t stick!
  2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook the egg noodles until al dente, about 6-8 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine sour cream, cottage cheese, sugar, eggs, melted butter, salt, and nutmeg. Whisk thoroughly until smooth.
  4. Gently fold in the cooked noodles into the creamy mixture, ensuring each noodle is coated. Pour this mixture into your prepared baking dish.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the crushed cornflakes with the melted butter, sugar, and cinnamon.
  6. Sprinkle the cornflake mixture generously over the noodle filling, spreading it out evenly.
  7. Slide the baking dish into the oven and bake uncovered for 60-65 minutes until the top is golden brown.

Notes

For different flavors, consider adding fruits like raisins or apples. Use pre-cooked noodles for quicker prep.
