A comforting sweet and savory casserole, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz wide egg noodles
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1½ cups cottage cheese
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • ½ cup butter (melted)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 3 cups cornflakes (lightly crushed)
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare the dish by greasing a 9×13 baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. Cook the noodles in boiling water until al dente, about 6-8 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  3. Mix the filling by combining sour cream, cottage cheese, sugar, eggs, melted butter, salt, and nutmeg in a large bowl. Whisk until smooth.
  4. Fold the cooked noodles into the creamy mixture until well coated. Pour evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  5. Create the topping by mixing crushed cornflakes with melted butter, sugar, and cinnamon.
  6. Assemble the kugel by sprinkling the cornflake mixture over the noodle filling evenly.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven uncovered for 60-65 minutes until the top is golden brown and set.

Notes

Serve garnished with a dollop of sour cream or cinnamon. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 5 days or frozen for 3 months.
