A delightful and easy breakfast casserole that can be prepared the night before, filled with sweet vanilla and cinnamon flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread (day-old or stale is best)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional toppings: maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh fruit

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread: Cut the bread into bite-sized pieces and place them in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Whisk the Wet Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  3. Soak the Bread: Pour the egg mixture over the bread, making sure it is evenly soaked.
  4. Overnight Rest: Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  5. Preheat and Bake: The next morning, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Bake the casserole uncovered for 45-55 minutes or until golden.
  7. Cooling and Serving: Let it cool for a few minutes, then serve warm with optional toppings.

Notes

Use stale bread for best absorption. Customize with your favorite fruits or flavors.
