A delightful dish combining juicy steaks with rich tomato sauce, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless steaks (about 1 inch thick)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the steaks with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the steaks and sear for about 4-5 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and garlic, and sauté until softened.
  5. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Return the steaks to the skillet, cover with the sauce, and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the steaks are cooked to your liking.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

Serve with pasta, rice, or crusty bread. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Can be frozen for longer storage.
