Tender, flavorful pork shoulder slow-cooked with citrus and spices, perfect for tacos and festive gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds pork shoulder
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 2 teaspoons oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Combine the pork shoulder, onion, garlic, orange juice, lime juice, cumin, oregano, salt, pepper, and chicken broth in a large oven-safe pot.
  3. Cover the pot with a lid and place it in the preheated oven.
  4. Cook for about 3-4 hours, until the pork is tender and falling apart.
  5. Remove the pork from the pot and shred it with two forks.
  6. Increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C).
  7. Spread the shredded pork on a baking sheet and roast for an additional 15-20 minutes, until golden and crispy.
  8. Serve with warm tortillas, fresh cilantro, and lime wedges.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
