Delicious red velvet cookie bars filled with nostalgic flavors, topped with creamy frosting.

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Cream cheese frosting (for topping)
  • Red velvet crumbs (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Creaming together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Add in the eggs, red food coloring, and vanilla extract, mixing well to combine.
  4. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the bars cool completely before frosting with cream cheese frosting.
  9. Sprinkle with red velvet crumbs for garnish.
