A creamy and flavorful pasta dish featuring juicy sausage, colorful bell peppers, and a rich sauce—a perfect comfort food for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz penne or rigatoni
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy, casings removed)
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil the pasta in a large pot of salted water until al dente, about 10-12 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. Sauté the sausage in a large skillet with olive oil over medium heat until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the sliced bell peppers and onion to the skillet, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Incorporate the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the marinara sauce and bring to a simmer.
  6. Mix in the heavy cream, reducing heat to low and stirring well.
  7. Combine the cooked pasta with the sauce, tossing to heat through, about 2-3 minutes.
  8. Finish with grated Parmesan cheese and season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to taste. Serve hot.

Notes

Pairs well with a green salad and garlic bread. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
